Women With Sleeping Problems

Sep 27, 2015 | sleep, trauma

Literature review (published in 2014 by Sleep Journal) finds significant associations between sleep disorders and a history of childhood adversity.

The strengths of associations increased with the number and severity of adverse experiences.

The study identifies the need to develop treatment strategies such as trauma-informed care for survivors of abuse who suffer from sleep disorders and disturbances.

Dr Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s leading experts on the impact of trauma, discussed trauma-informed treatment options at his series of training workshops in Australia in March 2016.
