I am a neuropsychologist working in the mental health field, and am dedicated to informed and evidence based trauma practice. I have followed the Byron Clinic offerings with great interest over time, and particularly their support of Bessel's work. I would be grateful for the opportunity to contribute my time to the running of this workshop and alongside this, benefit from the offerings of the workshop content where available to better inform my clinical knowledge and practice. I have a lot of experience in running events and supporting conferences, so would be well placed to assist as needed.

I love Bessel Van Der Kolk's work and have been utilizing body-based practices in my own practice for decades.

I am working for myself in private practice and volunteering would be a fantastic opportunity to connect with and service the greater therapeutic community in Brisbane.

I have a history of organizing workshops and events and am happy to do whatever is needed to help facilitate the event for whatever time is needed.

If you need help for future events let me know and I am happy to be of support wherever needed.

Wishing you the best

I would love to be able to come to see Bessel speak after having been through my own experience of multiple traumas with very little support, I have found my way through all of the distractions to listen to my inner knowing on it all, which has led me to the work of experts like Bessel. I feel so passionately about it as I know how much of an impact it has on our ability to live the kind of life we want to, and life is so precious, we need to make the most of it (in whatever way is most meaningful for us) while we can!

I am a clinical psychologist working in the NSW public health system, where a large proportion of the population I work with have experienced complex trauma, and are significantly impacted by related symptoms of dissociation and/or functional and somatic concerns. This is an area I am particularly passionate about continuing to work and develop my skills in. The opportunity to volunteer would be an invaluable learning experience in terms of interacting with numerous clinicians with similar interests whilst being exposed to the teaching of one of the leaders in the field.

I have been following his work for years, I have watched his conversations with Gabor mate.
I am only 2 years out of study (and unstable income) but it is my goal to incorporate talking therapy along side Acupunture and shaitsu for people experiencing complex trauma.

Reading a body keeps score and utilsiiing strategies outlined in the book has made my day to day life much more manageable and I no longer have chronic pain symptoms. EMDR and dance alongside shiatsu and body work has had a hugely positive impact on me and it would be an honour to hear him speak.

I try and volunteer at several events during the year and this one came up via a friend, who is attending the event.
Main reason for volunteering (at any event) is that I appreciate and value volunteers, and an event with a good bunch of happy and supportive volunteers can make a real difference and add to the (positive) experience for the attendees.
In addition, at this particular event, it would be great to add some very interesting knowledge to my social work toolbox while doing something I love: win-win!

Thank you for considering me.

Kind regards.
Ratna

I have waited for this workshop to return to Australia since his last was cancelled due to covid, at the time I was unable to register due to not being in the financial position to cover cost. I am passionate about Bessel Van De Kolk's work and would love to learn more and have the opportunity to hear him in person, I understand that I would not be able to be there as a participant but a volunteer but this is the closest opportunity possible.

I am fully equipped at providing support as needed.

The preference would be the sydney or Melbourne or Sydney workshops due to availability.

Hi Byron Clinic, I would love to volunteer to support the smooth running of your event, engage with like minded people and gain insight into trauma informed healthcare. I'm a third year post graduate medical student with an interest in mind body medicine and psychiatry. Prior to medicine, I worked as a private practice Dietitian (with a focus on motivational interviewing, sustainable behaviour change and non-diet philosophy). I have long wanted to go to one of Bessel Van der Kolk's workshops. This is the first time I have had the opportunity to attend one. The workshop in Melbourne was full when I tried to register.

I work part-time and the majority of my clients belong to a marginalised and stigmatised group. They invariably have suffered from trauma.

I have read The Body Keeps the Score and would love to hear him talk about his work/case studies I am also interested in his thoughts on vicarious trauma.

I have experience of volunteering and have a friendly, helpful disposition.

A friend of mine volunteered at the last tour that Bessel attended a few years ago and I thought it was a fantastic idea. So as soon as I saw the email asking for volunteers I wanted to sign up immediately. I had missed out on a ticket as it sold out quickly, and I did attend his last tour in Brisbane. I really respect Bessel van der Kolk, regularly refer to his work with my clients. It would be an honour to support him and the event. I enjoy volunteering for such events and have done it sporadically in the past.

In my relationship coaching I work almost exclusively with people with trauma and helping them feel safer in themselves and trusting their partner (when appropriate). Reading The body keeps the score helped me understand my own sexual trauma to a much deeper level, and through that helping others to do the same.

I was so sad when I noticed that the course was full a couple of weeks ago when it came up on my FB feed, so I registered both for potential openings and also for the newsletter if something like this would come up.

I think van der Kolk’s trauma work is so very useful for work in the public sector. Imagine a trauma-informed police force, justice system and education sector… What a difference that would make in the lives of trauma sufferers. I came across ‘the body keeps the score’ about 18 months ago. It’s been a game changer for me: fascinating and hopeful. So much up-skilling to be done! I was totally gutted when tickets to the Melbourne event had sold out, even by the end of November. This is an opportunity for me to still get to attend, even in a partial capacity. I’ll make a friendly, v capable aid.
